So I finished my Ash gloves and my Ash shoes and my Ash hat, all of which were a pain in the ass and had to be hand-sewn (and let me tell you, sewing through a baseball hat's design is nearly as hard as sewing through shoe canvas, although not as annoying as not having enough felt to make the green cuffs for the gloves and thus having to improvise and on the day of the con I'll have to do some final sewing), but I have to admit I love me my Ash hat. I wear it when I write now and it actually makes me feel more...I dunno, creative? Whatever. Either way, I'm going to keep my eye out for a shirt or vest to convert into Ash's vest in case Naks can't make me one, because it would be a SERIOUS pain in the ass to hand-sew his vest.

So like holy crap AX. Favorite thing that happened was the spontaneous gathering to play Monkey in the Middle with plushies (we had four plushies, including two giant pokeballs, going at one point), then Dodgeball that ran more like Calvinball, then an hour-long session of Freeze Tag. It was about as epic-awesome as it sounds and lasted two hours until the AX people broke it up. (It was epic because COSPLAYERS were doing this. Kakashi was particularly good at being It.)
Other Marisa, we *ARE* doing Spontaneous Freeze Tag at Otakon.
Also, I need massive help because I was impulsive and bought a black wig that can be styled to look like Ash's hair and now I need the rest of the costume to go with it. HELP, PLEASE. Because wearing one costume for four/three days is fucking boring, as I discovered.
Oh yes. Also decided to never attend for four days again. Ohgodthepain. |

I was thinking about wearing sunglasses instead of buying a mask, as the original Lolita in the movie wore pink heart-shaped sunglasses and it'd be a bit of a shoutout to that rather creepy book. (Also because my funds are running very low and I may not be able to even afford tickets to AX at this point. Blegh.) D'you think that'd work well enough? |

So, question for those who cosplay and/or know about Lolita:
Annie and I want to cosplay as a Gothic Lolita and a normal Lolita for AX respectively. I've finished my costume and, as I'm aware I'm dead sexy in it, I know pictures will be taken. I dislike this not because I dislike attention (everyone who knows me knows I've been dreaming of cosplaying as something for YEARS and am an attention whore) but because these pictures might get posted on the net and I do not want that. I already had to deal with two stalkers from Tanjou and I don't want them to have a face to go with the name, thank you very kindly. This is why most of you have never seen pictures of me or even read a description unless I've known you for several years.
Now, I was thinking of a way to protect myself would be to wear a mask or wig so that my more identifying features would be hidden. I think mask is easiest, as wigs are expensive and I want to wear my hair in pigtails. I was thinking that I could hold up a classic Greek "happy mask" when we take pictures, and Annie as the Goth Loli could hold up a classic Greek "sad mask" to protect our identities. Do you guys think that would fit Lolita style and still work? (Note: Elaine or Kathy, one of you's gonna haveta dress Goth Loli for Otakon, cos I'm dressing Loli again for it and if this idea works I'm still going to want my mask and it only makes sense if there's two.) |

Went and saw Speed Racer yesterday on Imax, and holy crap. That was by far the most EPIC movie I have ever seen in my life. It was anime brought to live action PROPERLY. Now, I can understand why people wouldn't understand it (even Anne at one point said "That's not possible!" and I had to explain how it wasn't physics we were watching, it was a live-action ANIME) but for those in the know, it's an orgasm in a convienent movie-going package, soon to be coming out on DVD. It's even more glorious than Indy 4, which had a rather bizarre ending as it was. I don't need to say anything about that, because those who saw it will know what I mean and those who haven't probably don't want to know. But...gold glitter...seriously, what the hell? Speed Racer, now, you knew where you were with Speed. And Racer X was made out of awesome. All in all, if I didn't already have two fics in the process of being written and several drawings to do (not to mention the Leaf in the Wind doujin I've been putting off coloring) I'd totally write something for SR. I'll have to ask Other Marisa who the cameos were though, because it was pretty awesome to see them and I sort of recognized the names but couldn't really remember. Oh well.
Oh yes, and there were so many hotties in the movie I couldn't decide who to drool over for all the eyecandy. O.Marisa, who was the white-haired Korean playing?
We also saw What Happens in Vegas, which was pretty funny but just couldn't compete with the epicness that was Speed. Still, if you're in a hopping mood and feel like seeing a free movie, Vegas is the free movie to see. But pay for Speed. It's totally worth it. (Not that we hopped and saw Vegas for free. Of course not.) |

( OMG OMG OMGEEEE INDIANA JONES WAS SOOOOO GOOD. SPOILERS BECAUSE HOLY SHIT. )
But either way there were loads of people dressed up as Indy and I got to get my picture taken with a particularly hot one. Unfortunately it was only with my cellphone, but oh well, at least I have the memories! And I didn't get to dress up (I don't own any Indy-esque clothing) but I did see a Shorty as well, which was awesome. But I did wear an awesome outfit, so I guess it worked out. I saw a lot of other girls dressed nicely too, so that was cool. And I got new sandals--I just hope they're comfy enough for work.
Anyway, midnight release was TOTALLY worth it. LIKE OMG TOTALLY WORTH IT. |

Guess who's back~ back again~ Sera's back~ tell a friend~
Oh yeah, I have my laptop back, FINALLY! And now I have to get used to a laptop keyboard again. Wow. It's so...flat. And flat. And....flat. But at least my computer can come WITH me to places, hooray for that. And there isn't a giant crack in my screen anymore. And I have a spacebar now. And presumably my DVD burner can burn CDs and DVDs now. And the hinge for my laptop is fixed too quite nicely.
...Yeeeeah, I let Serafina get in really bad shape before I called up Dell.
The funny thing was that Dell had it ready for me like three days after I sent it out to them, but it took DHL two weeks to mail it back to me because they're morons. Ugh. Oh well, at least I can get back to typesetting and such.
And Naki, I got a new idea for how to go with the Mew story, so TALK TO ME ALREADY WTF. |

God, I love stupid!Gibson. Man, I am going to MISS awesome cable and the cable box it came with. Dammit, why does the internet lack in SRMTHFG episodes?! I'm just going to have to memorize, like, EVERYTHING and take a scrupulous amount of notes and avoid reading fanfiction like the plague so when I write my own I don't get influenced by whatever fanon people have already created. (I've found it's the only way to keep characters IC, really.)

So when I go to see Elaine I'm totally going to go and find me some Kudzu, cos that looks like a neat plant.
What? What do I care that it's technically a weed? I've got all sorts of weeds growing in pots already; just because other people think they're weeds doesn't mean I do...and seriously, how else am I supposed to get something that sounds really damn yummy?
In other news, went to work today. Uuuurgh. Oh well, at least they have cute clothes that I totally wish I owned. And I've renamed Zone 5 (technically called the 'Girly Girl' section) as 'Lolicon' and the 'Rocker' area as 'Goth Hard'. But seriously, they have cute stuff there. Can't wait to get a paycheck and get some new clothes. |
